The Amazon Sword plant is by far one of the most popular live plants used in the tropical fish tank. While it’s scientific name is Echinodorus bleheri, other plants are also referred to by the Amazon sword name.

Sword plants can be used as centerpiece plants because of their height. Tall Amazon swords are ideal for that purpose. Amazon’s can also be placed around the tank if they’re medium or small height. Just remember a little goes a long way. Plan your aquascape out before getting too many. The sword plant thrives in moderate to high lighting, and appreciates getting fed at the roots with fertilizer tablets. It’s a great addition to the freshwater fish tank.
